Sky, a dog discovered in an abandoned backyard, was on a similar path. After experiencing a series of traumatic events, he had lost all hope and was waiting for the end. Yet, what he did not expect was the arrival of a kind-hearted woman!
Sky’s Journey: A Heart-Wrenching Story
Sky’s story is one of the most heartbreaking ones you could ever encounter.
Before Liza, an experienced rescuer, found him, this poor pup had been abandoned in a forsaken backyard after enduring horrific injuries. He had a hole in his face and a fractured jaw, which made it impossible for him to eat or even open his mouth.
Additionally, he was horribly emaciated and struggled to maintain his footing.
When Liza first encountered him, Sky was utterly defeated. She had to carry him into the car, as he lacked the strength to do so himself.
Terrified, withdrawn, and distrustful of humans, Sky was completely unresponsive. But then, a spark of hope began to shine!
“Initially, he was so frightened that I nearly had to carry him to the clinic. After about thirty minutes together, he began to nuzzle my hand for affection, and his tail started wagging—the first signs of life, hope, and love,” Liza shared on Instagram.
Once they arrived at the clinic, Sky was diagnosed with multiple health issues. Besides the injury to his jaw, he tested positive for parvovirus and exhibited severe inflammation in his upper respiratory tract, along with anemia.
“Each day, he’s losing weight and suffering from increasingly severe inflammation, dehydration, and anemia,” she noted.
Is There A Happy Ending For This Brave Pup?
Liza and her team worked tirelessly to gather the necessary funds for Sky’s treatment. His situation seemed nearly hopeless, as his jaw required multiple procedures to heal.
After months of dedicated care and a particularly grueling surgery, he began to show signs of improvement. He gradually started gaining weight and could walk again, ultimately emerging from the critical phase.
Unfortunately, the vets could not address the issue with his snout.
“A stable bacterial presence has formed. Regrettably, we cannot take further action,” Liza explained.
Due to the extent of his injuries, Sky must undergo daily treatments, including regular cleaning of his snout. Despite this, he has fully recuperated and is gradually becoming more sociable with both people and other dogs.
“Overall, Sky is doing well,” Liza concluded.
Despite his progress, finding someone to adopt Sky remains a formidable challenge. Now labeled as a special-needs dog, he seeks a loving owner willing to dedicate their time and affection to continue caring for him.
Currently residing in his foster home, Sky receives exceptional care. However, what he truly desires is a safe and nurturing environment that he can call his own.
Hopefully, that day will arrive soon, allowing Sky to finally experience the joy of a forever home.
