Abandoned Dog with an Enigmatic History Appears at Illinois Home, Pleading for Help

Date:

On a frigid day in East St. Louis, a pup named Adobe wandered through the snow, feeling lost and cold, desperately seeking warmth and food. With ice underfoot, his paws began to turn red from the chill, prompting him to seek help from humans as he realized he couldn’t survive on his own.

Choosing a random house, he hoped for a touch of compassion from its occupants. Adobe circled the house, whining in distress, until teenage girls inside heard him and rushed to help. They opened the door, welcomed him into their garage, provided blankets, and offered toys from their own pets, which filled him with gratitude and hope. Adobe felt he had chosen the right place.

A Heartbreaking Cry For Help

After contacting Gateway Pet Guardians, the girls’ mom informed them about the pup outside. Jill, the director of operations at the shelter, arrived to pick him up. Observing Adobe’s nice harness and clean appearance, she suspected he once had a home. However, upon putting him in her van, she noticed he trembled uncontrollably from the cold.

“When I got him into the van, he was shivering really, really hard. His face and feet were bright red, likely nearing frostbite,” Jill shared with GeoBeats Animals. Despite her years of experience, she had never encountered a dog so cold.

Upon arriving at the shelter, Adobe was examined at the vet, where it was determined that aside from being slightly underweight, he was in good health.

The Pup Shows His Loving Disposition

The following day, the shelter staff welcomed him into the office, where Adobe’s loving nature shone as he jumped around and wagged his tail. It was evident that he was thankful for his rescue as he affectionately nuzzled into the staff, soaking in the warmth of their attention.

The staff believed that Adobe had once enjoyed a loving home but somehow found himself lost. Unfortunately, a microchip scan revealed that he had no identification. Determined to locate his owner, staff hung flyers and posted online but found no leads.

As Adobe adapted to his new environment, the mystery of his past remained unsolved; however, one thing was certain—he was a genuine love bug. “What we do know is that he’s an absolute love bug with the biggest, most charming head and an irresistibly handsome face that melts your heart,” the shelter noted on Facebook.

With no one coming forward to claim him, the shelter sought to find Adobe a foster home and eventually, a loving forever home. While he relishes the staff’s affection, he eagerly anticipates meeting his future family to start the happiest chapter of his life.
