Being an animal control officer is an emotionally challenging role that often involves rescuing pets in dire situations. One Texas officer was patrolling for abandoned dogs when they discovered Pixie, a dog who had been cruelly tied to a pole, left alone and vulnerable. Pixie spent days curled up on the ground, her ribs protruding, and was mere days away from her tragic end.
There Was No Food And Water Anywhere Nearby
Pixie’s previous owners abandoned her cruelly. Without shelter or access to food and water, she had become a mere shadow of a dog, looking like a skeleton. Fortunately, the officer acted swiftly, providing the only hope Pixie had, and luckily, it arrived just in time!
“This sweet babe was found tied to a pole, with no food or water whatsoever. The amazing animal control officer seemingly found this sweet girl just in time or she wouldn’t have lasted much longer out there,” Brizzee Animal Rescue stated on social media.
Pixie’s plight caught the attention of Emily and Mike Brizzee, founders of Brizzee Animal Rescue in Haslet, Texas. Understanding that shelter life could worsen her trauma, they decided to take her in, providing a new beginning for this sweet girl.
With a warm bed and a secure environment, Pixie was finally on her journey to learning what true love feels like.
Waiting For The Pawfect Family
Pixie’s path to rebuilding trust was not straightforward; however, Emily and her family made every effort to ensure she felt comfortable. They provided ample space and lots of love, which allowed Pixie to gradually emerge from her shell, showcasing her true personality. She learned that her new family had good intentions and returned their affection with sweet kisses, cuddles, and a beautiful smile. Pixie became particularly attached to Brody, the couple’s eight-year-old son.
Now, she sleeps with him every night, feeling as secure as she ever could. “She began to trust us and open up. She has become very attached to our 8-year-old son and sleeps with him at night,” Emily shared with The Dodo.
Her rescuers continue to support Pixie. Once they ensure her days of anxiety are behind her, this sweet girl will be on the lookout for her forever home. For now, she relishes having humans who care for her deeply, finally understanding that love and security are what she needs in her future family!
