Dogs are happiest when in a warm home with a loving family; their world revolves around their favorite people. Unfortunately, many dogs are not so fortunate, suffering in dark, cold kennels as shelter capacities dwindle. Some have never known life outside a shelter, while others have experienced the heart-wrenching loss of their homes.
This was the case for one poor dog, Tokyo, a three-year-old Pit Bull mix, who was surrendered to a rescue center in Pasadena, California after her owners divorced and could not keep her anymore. Her reaction was devastating.
Broken Heart
According to the rescue organization, surrendering Tokyo was the right decision, given the heartbreaking reality where many pet owners abandon their animals. Maria, the rescue partner, remarked that it was the saddest handoff she had ever witnessed, despite knowing it was for the best.
