When a small Chihuahua mix, later known as Viva, was left alone on the streets of Los Angeles, she sought refuge near the LAX airport.
Separated from her loved ones and lacking food and water, she wandered desperately in hopes of finding a way to survive.
Her fortune changed when someone reached out to the rescue group, Hope For Paws.
Rescuing Little Viva

Upon receiving the report about a little dog lingering near the airport, two dedicated rescuers (Lisa Arturo and JoAnn Wiltz) promptly set off to locate her.
When they finally spotted her crouched in the grass, Viva bolted into traffic out of fear as soon as they approached.
Recognizing that tranquility was crucial, the rescuers understood that capturing her would be a challenging endeavor.
They attempted to set a doggie trap; however, a passerby startled Viva again, making her flee.

During their quest, the two women learned from the staff at Wally’s Parking that Viva frequently took shelter in their structure. They spent hours searching every level without luck.
Days went by, and despite their continued efforts, Hope For Paws rescuers had yet to catch her, but they remained determined.
Fortunately, employees at Wally’s Parking provided them with insight on her usual entry points. In pursuit of finally trapping her, they set up a lure right at that spot and waited patiently.
After a few hours, Viva finally entered the trap!
She was now safe and secure!
Locating the Owner

Upon securing Viva, the rescuers quickly noticed she was wearing a collar.
Despite the absence of tags, they suspected she could belong to someone, prompting them to investigate further.
However, when they contacted Avid Identification Systems to check the microchip linked to the dog, they received heart-wrenching news.
“We have information on the owner, but it seems they told us they no longer have this pet,” the Avid representative stated.
In response to Hope For Paws’s questions about the possibility of the dog being given away or if anyone was seeking her, the representative reiterated, “No, they confirmed they no longer own her.”
The previous owner had simply abandoned her.
Starting A New Life

Thanks to her rescuers, little Viva left Wally’s Parking for a far more secure environment.
She was initially placed in a temporary foster home provided by the Los Angeles organization, Foxy and the Hounds, where she could relax. Once she felt at ease, Viva blossomed into a joyous and playful dog.
“We are completely enamored with this cross-eyed, adorable little girl who possesses a cute underbite. Viva is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix, possibly part Min Pin. She’s incredibly loving, amusing, cheerful, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with her,” commented Foxy and the Hounds in their Facebook post.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Viva to discover her ideal forever home.

The moment her new family saw the Facebook post about her, they felt compelled to adopt her.
They were exactly the loving family Viva had been waiting for.
“Viva adores children and dashed through their house, instantly initiating a lively game of chase… She was having the time of her life!”
Everyone rejoiced that this sweet little dog had finally found a family that would cherish her and never abandon her again.
“Heartfelt thanks to Robert Gomez and your wonderful family for welcoming sweet Viva into your home. Our hearts are full knowing she will enjoy a life filled with love, playtime with kids, and a family to call her own,” the rescue group expressed in their post.
Wishing you a wonderful new life, dear little girl!
