Abandoned Blind Puppy Found Next to Busy Road Finally Receives a New Lease on Life

Date:

Dogs long to feel unconditionally loved by their humans. As their caretakers, we cherish the love reflected in their eyes and the way they wag their tails when we arrive home.

Our dogs understand that they hold a special place in our hearts.

Regrettably, many owners abandon their dogs, depriving them of the love and care they deserve. This betrayal leaves dogs feeling unworthy of affection from the very people they consider family.

This story highlights a blind dog named Teasel, who felt abandoned by the family she trusted implicitly.

Teasel was callously left by the roadside, her owners showing no concern for her fate.

Curled up by the road, Teasel felt lost and fearful, desperately hoping to hear her owners call her name once again.

Heroes Arrive to Rescue Teasel

Upon receiving a video and images of a blind dog abandoned along the roadway, Laura Myatt, a rescuer with Sadie Dog Rescue, immediately set out to find her.

When Myatt arrived, she discovered the frightened pup, later named Teasel, hiding beneath a bush.

Seeing Teasel’s fearful and sorrowful demeanor broke Myatt’s heart. The dog kept her head low, her face filled with confusion and distress.

A compassionate stranger provided food for Teasel over several days.

As he observed, the devoted dog never left her spot, even during the rain. She steadfastly awaited her owners’ return.

When Myatt approached and gently petted Teasel, the pup backed away, leaving the rescuer questioning if Teasel had ever known love.

Myatt carefully secured Teasel with a leash and transported her to Sadie Dog Rescue.

Assisting Teasel in Discovering Love

The rescue team welcomed Teasel with warmth and tried their best to comfort her with the love she needed.

They diligently removed ticks from her coat and prepared a cozy resting area for her.

Although Teasel was gentle with her rescuers, she remained wary and didn’t seek human affection.

Myatt felt a wave of sadness as she observed the despair in Teasel’s eyes, and she hoped that over time, Teasel would begin to trust again.

“I’m heartbroken for her; I just pray we can help her enjoy the rest of her life 🙏🏼 She’s safe and loved, but she deserves the world,” Myatt shared in a Facebook post.

Her friends continued to shower her with care and affection, eager to help her recognize the beauty of life.

Within two weeks of her rescue, Teasel’s tail wagged every time she heard Myatt’s voice.

The rescue team arranged for Teasel to visit the vet for a health evaluation.

Unfortunately, during her initial appointment, the veterinarian indicated that Teasel might have a metastatic mammary tumor, but further tests were necessary for confirmation.

After approximately a month, Teasel began showing her true personality as she warmed up to Myatt and the caring humans around her, reveling in their cuddles.

Myatt updated her Facebook followers that Teasel was taken to see an eye specialist. Unfortunately, the specialist confirmed that Teasel’s vision could not be restored, but she was adapting well.

The rescuer also noted that the sweet pup would need her left eye removed due to glaucoma.

Discovering a Loving Forever Home

Fortunately, Teasel did not have to wait long for a loving home.

A kind woman immediately fell in love with Teasel and chose to become her forever mom.

She committed to being by Teasel’s side while the pup recovers from her surgery.

Before departing for her new home, the sweet dog bid farewell to her rescuers, the kind individuals who had supported her during her time of need.

The volunteers were elated as their beloved girl found her happily-ever-after.

Finally, she would receive the love she had always deserved.

I am truly grateful to both the Good Samaritan who cared for Teasel after her abandonment and to the dedicated rescuers who offered her a new lease on life.
