An inspiring example comes from a dog in San Diego, California. Unfortunately, she was blind when her family decided to adopt her, and her eyes were subsequently removed. However, this did not deter her from living life to the fullest.

Savoring Every Moment
When her new family adopted her, this dog, affectionately named Z, was not only blind but in a dire state.
“Her shelter photos didn’t do her justice,” said Tran Le, Z’s mom, in an interview with The Dodo. “The vet found that her blindness resulted from cataracts and glaucoma, and her eyes were removed last year due to the symptoms.”
Despite her challenges, Z’s new family from San Diego recognized her unique spirit and refused to give up on her. Soon, Z reciprocated with her astonishing positive energy and zest for life.
What amazed them the most was her enthusiasm for her favorite game – fetch. This activity kept her vibrant and filled her with joy.
“Right from the beginning, her love for fetch was apparent,” stated Le. “She’s always on the hunt for her toys, especially her ball, and never hesitates to bring them to us. Her determination to play fetch is relentless, starting each morning by searching for her ball.”
The sheer fact that a blind dog skillfully plays fetch left her family in awe. Despite her lack of sight, Z effortlessly locates the ball each time it’s thrown. But there’s more to her story.
“We’ve experimented with different sound-making balls, but she consistently prefers her simple green and red ball,” Le explained. “We believe the sound balls are just too easy for her; she thrives on the challenge of a basic bouncing ball.”

The Fetching Phenomenon
As Z’s amazing talent became more apparent, Tran Le ensured it received the attention it deserved. She began recording Z’s fetch exploits and sharing them on her TikTok account. The response was swift and overwhelmingly positive.
“The feedback has been incredibly uplifting,” Le commented. “People express emotions ranging from joy to sheer amazement.”
However, a video posted on the 51st day of Z’s adoption skyrocketed her to newfound fame.
