In a world filled with joyful tail wags and rhythmic heartbeats, some of our canine friends are quietly battling their own challenges. Sadly, many individuals overlook deaf and blind dogs, often leaving them unwanted due to their disabilities.
A particular Great Dane faced this harsh reality right from birth. His arrival into the world was marked by misfortune, being born completely deaf along with several other serious health complications.
Despite the skepticism surrounding this dog’s future, Great Dane Rescue was determined not to abandon him, pledging to do everything possible to turn his fate around.
Their unwavering dedication bore fruit when a dog-loving family reached out, unwilling to ignore his plight and ready to offer him a new chance at life.
A Life Full of Trials

When Crystal and her family brought home this deaf Great Dane, affectionately named Hogan, they were fully aware of the tough journey ahead.
“We began our testing here, dropping items, shouting, calling him from another room,” Crystal shared with GeoBeats Animals. “Over time, we discovered he was also visually impaired.”

Additionally, Hogan struggled with light sensitivity, often colliding with cars and tumbling off curbs.
Nevertheless, his family was undeterred in their mission to provide him with a joyful life. “I want him to experience life to the fullest,” stated Crystal.

To assist him, the family initially provided Hogan with Doggles to enhance his vision during the daytime. But their efforts didn’t stop there.
“We have trained him to respond to a vibrating collar,” Crystal shared with pride. “With a trigger in my hand and the collar on him, he knows to come back when he feels the vibration.”
Furthermore, the family wasn’t merely equipping him with tools for a better life; they committed to daily training, teaching him to behave like any other dog.
