A 15-Hour Journey Saves Two Puppies from Imminent Euthanasia

Date:

Just because they were afflicted with mange doesn’t mean they deserve to be disregarded.

But unfortunately, some people did think that way.

Regrettably, many puppies don’t survive as they end up in high-euthanasia shelters, particularly those in California.

The two puppies we’re highlighting today traveled all the way from Los Angeles to Estacada, Oregon. It was quite a journey… the longest one they’ve ever experienced. Yet, it was also a ride they will never forget, as it was their ticket to a new life.

Once again, The Asher House and Lee Asher stepped in at the last minute to rescue these two pups from the brink of death.

A Ride to Remember

For years, Lee Asher, the founder of The Asher House, has been traveling across the United States rescuing countless dogs in distress. It’s quite routine for him to drive to pick up these animals.

This time, however, it was the dogs making the journey to him, and what a memorable voyage it was!

As Lee Asher mentions in the video you’re about to watch, these pups were rescued at the very last moment. It was their final opportunity to evade the infamous E-list.

And the reason? The presence of mange.

To be honest, both pups arrived suffering from a severe case of mange. Even Lee Asher admitted he had never seen such an extreme situation before.

Nevertheless, having mange does not automatically put dogs on the forever sleep list. Such a fate is unjust.

Mange is treatable. It’s an unpleasant skin condition for both dogs and humans, but effective treatments exist that involve salicylic acid, iodine, or thymol all aimed at restoring the dog’s health. |1|

This easily manageable condition shouldn’t be a reason for shelters to resort to such inhumane measures. Yet, we understand that shelters face overcrowding and need additional space. They argue that euthanizing dogs is their only solution.

Our only solution should be adoption… healing and giving them a loving home!

Fortunately, these two mange-affected sisters from the same litter were fortunate enough to be rescued by Lee Asher. He was unfazed by their skin condition. Lee truly embodied his motto once more:

Inspiring others, one rescue animal at a time.

“We got them just before they were going to be euthanized due to their mange, but they are incredibly sweet,” said Lee in the video.

That’s one precious shipment delivered to Lee Asher and his Asher House organization.

On behalf of all dog lovers, I extend a heartfelt thank you to the woman who drove for 15 hours to bring the puppies to their new oasis. She’s a true MVP.

There’s no doubt that these pups will find their forever home soon.

I would also like to express my appreciation to Lee and his team for their incredible work in rescuing animals. The world needs more individuals like them!

Be sure to follow The Asher House, support their efforts, and donate if you’re able. These folks truly create the change we need to see.
