For some individuals, losing their beloved dog signifies a significant shift in their lives. That’s why when Kayleigh and her partner lost their Greyhound, Murphy, their home felt empty, just like their hearts.
To revive the joy that once filled their home and in memory of Murphy, the couple chose to foster another Greyhound.
They reached out to their local rescue and inquired about any Greyhounds needing a temporary home; that’s when they encountered Lulu.
New Companion

Lulu was a retired racing dog, having participated in an impressive 200 races throughout her career. As a result, she was unfamiliar with the comforts of a quiet home. Thus, when she first arrived at her foster home, her behavior was uncertain.
Lulu faced many new experiences she found uncomfortable; however, the one thing she detested was the television.
“The TV was a significant trigger for her. Whenever it was on, she would become extremely anxious, quickly retreating upstairs and getting stuck on the way down, requiring my husband to carry her down. The everyday things we take for granted were so foreign to her,” Kayleigh shared with GeoBeats.
Despite this, Lulu discovered something she truly loved – the couch.

Whenever she returns from spending time outdoors, she races to the couch as though it is her sanctuary.
Adjustment Period
Another source of anxiety for Lulu was the presence of men. Upon arriving at her foster home, she immediately took to Kayleigh but maintained her distance from her husband.
It took several weeks for her to realize he posed no threat and genuinely wanted to love and care for her, just like Kayleigh.
Once she understood this, she showered him with affection.
