Rescued Dog From Puppy Mill Loses Mobility in Hind Legs After Abuse

Date:

Sadly, not every puppy is welcomed into a joyful and caring family.

A lovable puppy named Harold was born in unfortunate conditions within a puppy mill, devoid of the comfort and care that every dog deserves.

This puppy mill was overcrowded, placing animals at a high risk of severe congenital issues, and Harold was among those affected.

Fortunately, a compassionate individual noticed Harold’s struggles and decided to purchase him for $7,000 to give him the happy life an adorable puppy deserves.

Finally Safe

Upon reaching his new home, Harold initially battled an upper respiratory infection. His devoted owner nursed him back to health, but then, Harold suddenly lost the use of his back legs.

After conducting several tests, the veterinarian discovered that the curvature of Harold’s spine, resulting from overbreeding in the puppy mill, was the cause of the issue.

Harold’s condition was akin to scoliosis, unfortunately limiting all sensations in his hind legs.

Regrettably, due to feeling overwhelmed, Harold’s owner chose to surrender him to Dallas DoggRRR, an organization dedicated to rescuing dogs primarily in Southeast Dallas.

The moment they took Harold into their care, he was rushed to the hospital, where he spent two days.

His experience at the Dallas hospital was challenging, as he had difficulty eating without regurgitating.

The veterinary team opted for exploratory surgery to assist this sweet pup, revealing ulcerations and a stricture in his intestines, along with abdominal adhesions.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of his troubles. The team also found swollen lymph nodes, elevated liver values, and gastro fluid in his abdomen and esophagus.

Fortunately, his amazing veterinary team dedicated themselves to getting Harold into the best possible health, resulting in a hospital stay longer than initially expected.

Sad News.

Harold spent years at Dallas DoggRRR, but he embraced his time there.

He cherished being with the caring staff, volunteers, and his furry companions. Each day was filled with joy and adventure, allowing him to forget about his medical challenges and fully enjoy his happy life.

Unfortunately, one sorrowful weekend, Harold crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving all who met him heartbroken.

“Harold’s personality was truly vibrant, and the void he leaves in our hearts is immeasurable. His frail body simply couldn’t keep up anymore. We are thankful that he lived every day to the fullest. His spirit will continue to inspire DogRRR Nation as we unite to alleviate the suffering of animals in need,” shared the Dallas rescue on their Facebook.

I want to take this moment to express gratitude to every individual and animal who contributed to making Harold’s life more comfortable and filled with joy.

Thanks to you, his life was truly worth living. Thank you.
