While dogs often show unwavering love and loyalty to their humans, not all owners reciprocate that affection. Some display this unworthiness through their everyday behaviors.
Miss Molly, a seven-year-old Belgian Malinois, was one such victim. She endured abuse at the hands of a teenager from her household, who found enjoyment in hitting her with a pole.
In addition, this sweet dog was confined to a cramped kennel behind the house, tethered to a short lead, irrespective of the harsh weather conditions. Her life was nothing short of a nightmare for an extended period.
This torment continued until her owners opted for a divorce. They planned to abandon her at a shelter, but a compassionate neighbor intervened and took her in temporarily.
Her Most Challenging Moment

Fortunately, Molly did not remain with her temporary guardian for long, as they quickly connected with the Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue (MAD Rescue). She arrived at their facility on December 13, 2023.
Upon her arrival, it was discovered that Molly was pregnant and was nearing her delivery date. She gave birth to nine adorable Malinois-Lab puppies on December 19.

Molly’s joy in seeing her puppies was soon overshadowed as she became excessively protective of them, leading the rescue staff to determine that she posed a potential danger, necessitating a permanent separation from her puppies. Seven of the puppies found loving homes, while two were placed in foster care.
Though it’s not uncommon for mother dogs to display protective behavior, the underlying cause for Molly’s reaction was far deeper. This separation was undoubtedly the most challenging moment of her life, but it was deemed necessary.
Root Cause of Her Distress

In addition to the heart-wrenching separation from her puppies, Molly faced various health challenges.
As stated in a Facebook post from the MAD Rescue group, “Miss Molly experienced a medical crisis where she could not keep food down, accompanied by dark vomit and diarrhea.”
She was then transferred to a veterinarian for treatment. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve; she continued to lose weight and became increasingly frail.

Due to this alarming medical condition, the veterinary team had no option but to conduct exploratory surgery. This procedure involves examining the organs in the abdomen.
Following the surgery, the veterinarians identified the root cause of Molly’s issues. The immense stress she endured during her time with her previous owners had led to the formation of multiple large ulcers in the lining of her stomach.
Upon diagnosing her correctly, the vets provided Molly with proper treatment, and she began to regain her strength and was on the path to recovery.

The extent of the suffering inflicted by her callous owners is evident as Molly faced long-lasting consequences from their actions.
Bright Days Ahead
Molly required a low-stress environment to recuperate, leading to her relocation to a vet’s clinic in Wyoming shortly after her surgery.

“Molly has been residing at the vet’s office since March 15th, 2024, due to the need for a calm and low-stress atmosphere,” shared Vee Jenkins, the rescue’s adoption counselor, as reported by ROCKY Kanaka.
Jenkins confirmed that she was transitioned from Wyoming to foster care on April 26, 2024, and since then, her condition has shown significant improvement. Meanwhile, the rescue group is diligently working to secure her a permanent home.
“Molly has endured more than anyone should have to, and she is truly deserving of a peaceful retirement,” reads a post on Facebook. “She needs a family that will let her relax, shower her with affection, and show her what love truly means from now on.”
The organization also mentioned that her future family must be patient, allowing Molly time to acclimatize and gain trust. Rest assured, once that bond is established, her abundant love and enchanting character will repay their kindness a hundredfold.

After enduring immense suffering at the hands of her cruel previous owner, this dog deserves a loving person who will cherish her and mend her emotional scars.
Wishing you all the best, Miss Molly.
