While traveling through a wooded area near their home, a farmer named Josemar Milli and his wife encountered something unusual.
There, beside a fallen tree on the cold ground, were two vulnerable baby parrots.
Feeling compelled to help, the couple took the parrots in, unaware of the journey that lay ahead.
An Uncommon Rescue
After rescuing the baby parrots, Josemar and his wife nurtured them until they grew up.
Sadly, one of the birds achieved independence and flew away, never to return. Yet, the other decided to stay with the farmer’s family for a little while longer.
“We named her Louro. She was never caged; she simply never wished to leave,” Josemar shared with The Dodo.
Louro enjoys her freedom and can return whenever she likes; she can always count on Josemar’s shoulder to rest upon.
A Surprising Discovery
Recently, Louro began to behave oddly. Though she would venture out during the day, she invariably returned home at night.
However, this pattern soon shifted.
“Louro always slept at home, but for three nights, she chose to sleep elsewhere. During the day, she started lingering near this [hollow] wooden fence post,” Josemar recounted.
Despite knowing that Louro had settled into the hollow post and enjoyed her time there, her unusual behavior intrigued Josemar. He made the decision to investigate what was drawing his beloved parrot to this location.
What he found was astonishing.

It turned out that Louro had taken in a litter of three adorable kittens.
Josemar presumed that one of the local cats had given birth in Louro’s nest but abandoned her kittens soon after. Fortunately, Louro did everything possible to attract Josemar’s attention and ultimately save the little ones.
Josemar first attempted to return the kittens to their mother, who continued to ignore them. Yet, Louro could not be separated from the kittens.

New Additions to the Family
Josemar and his family chose to take care of the kittens Louro had adopted. Even their family cat joined in to help out.
“We brought them home and are looking after them,” Josemar mentioned.

Thanks to this remarkable parrot, the three kittens not only survived but also found a caring home.
“My daughters will be looking after them,” he added.
It’s amazing to see how someone who was once rescued decided to do the exact same for others, fully aware of the impact such kindness can have.
Louro received an abundance of love and care upon joining the Milli family, and she chose to extend that same love to those in need.
