It’s not uncommon to see stray dogs that have endured hardships, leading them to lose their sense of self-preservation. Their hunger and fear can drive them to act dangerously out of character. This story follows a stray dog who was badly hurt and found himself in a perilous situation on a highway.
A Raggedy Furball

A few months ago, a woman driving on a Southern California highway noticed something peculiar. After a moment, she recognized it was a stray dog attempting to cross the highway. She stopped to help, but the frightened dog darted away. Unable to remain on the road, she left but not without calling Suzette Hall from Logan’s Legacy for assistance.
Hall arrived as quickly as possible, but initially, the dog was nowhere to be found. After waiting for a bit, the dog eventually returned, sniffing around the freeway looking for food but found none, retreating back to a junkyard to hide.

Hall shared with The Dodo: “She would come out by the freeway and just sniff the ground like she was looking for food. But there wasn’t any food, so she would go back into the junkyard and hide somewhere.” Unable to locate her hiding spot, Hall set several baited traps to catch the dog. With food inside, all they could do was wait for her to appear.
Raggedy Annie’s New Life

Hall didn’t wait long; the dog, now affectionately named Raggedy Annie, appeared quickly, driven by her hunger. Hall recounted, “I couldn’t tell if it was her. But then I looked up and saw this little furball inside the trap.” Once captured, the dog enjoyed her food while Hall took her to a veterinarian for tests to determine the next steps. The first priority was to shave off her matted fur. Although scared during the process, Annie relaxed afterward.

Hall noted: “At first, she wasn’t touchable, but once she felt safe and those mats were gone, she came out of her shell, ready to begin her new life.” Just a few days later, the veterinarians confirmed that she was healthy enough to transition to foster care. They attempted to scan for a microchip but found none. Hall believed she may have had owners due to her gentle nature, but sadly that wasn’t the case. Raggedy Annie was then placed into foster care, awaiting adoption. Although her adoption status remains unknown, it’s certain that this joyful dog has an abundance of love to share and can bring happiness to anyone willing to give her a chance.
