Freya is not your average puppy; from the moment she entered Emily’s life, her uniqueness shone through. Sadly, this beautiful Pittie girl endured a challenging beginning, as she was discovered abandoned in a duffel bag in the woods, left to face danger alone by her previous owner.
Fortunately, thanks to the compassionate people of Kentucky, she received a second chance and is now thriving!
Freya Was Nothing But A Pure Joy

Even with her challenging start, once Freya arrived at the Arrow Fund rescue in Prospect, Kentucky, she radiated pure joy. Born without front feet and with a fractured femur, Freya was initially too small for surgery, leading the staff to provide her with physical therapy. No matter her circumstances, her captivating smile reflected her gratefulness for being saved.
After further evaluation in the ICU, Freya’s life changed when she met Emily Weedman, who was searching for a new dog following the loss of her beloved puppy, Maki.
The Weedman Family Is Everything She Ever Needed

“I looked at the screaming baby and wasn’t sure if taking a special-needs dog home was the best option for our family. Then my coworker leaned in and said, just hold her for a second. I opened her cage, picked her up, and the rest is history.”

Emily and her family quickly adapted their home to accommodate Freya’s needs, even providing her with customized socks to protect her sore paw nubs. They’ve created a comfortable living environment with soft surfaces throughout, allowing her to move freely without risk of injury. Freya absolutely loves her new home – a cozy space filled with warmth and affection!
Hanabi Nubbin In Her Furever Home

Freya’s spirit remained unbroken despite her challenges; she plays joyfully with Emily’s children and enjoys crawling into her soft bed with her stuffed toys when she’s worn out. Emily fondly remembers the moment they met, recalling how Freya sighed in her arms, as if they were meant to be together, like she was destined to be a part of the Weedman family. “I can’t imagine life without her,” Emily reflects.

Once a mere five-pound puppy, Freya has blossomed into a healthy, forty-pound Pittie! The Weedman family affectionately renamed her Hanabi Nubbin and even created an official Instagram page for her fans to follow her exciting adventures.
This remarkable story of resilience and love highlights how, against all odds, Freya has transformed from an abandoned puppy into the happy dog she was always meant to be!
