Karlie had always dreamed of adopting a deaf dog, and that dream eventually became a reality!
On one of her visits to a local shelter in Texas, she met Rhett. Although she was a bit anxious and uncertain about their future together, Rhett quickly put her concerns to rest!
During their first encounter, he jumped right in for a hug and a kiss, sealing the deal—Rhett officially became part of the family.
Gradually, Rhett adapted to his new environment, and then he made another significant leap!
He began picking up sign language since he couldn’t obey verbal commands or hear anything his human parents said to him.
This served as a convenient mode of communication with his mom, forging a deep friendship. They discovered a way to converse without uttering a single word.
“He can’t hear what’s happening around him, so I use sign language. I can sign to him, and he gets it,” Karlie explained to Cuddle Buddies.
