Tika’s life transformed from despair to hope in just a day. This skeletal dog, emaciated and near death, had been viciously attacked, leaving her face marred with severe wounds. As she awaited her final moments, she had lost all hope… until a compassionate Border Patrol agent found her!
Saved At The Last Moment
When the agent discovered Tika, the sight was heartbreaking; the left side of her face was severely injured, leading to a dangerous infection. “Sweet TIKA was rescued by a Border Patrol agent in her last minutes on earth… she was agonizing,” stated The Buddy Foundation from Eagle Pass, Texas. Although the circumstances of the attack remain unclear, Tika’s condition spoke volumes.
The agent acted swiftly, transporting her to a Texas shelter where Tika was saved just in time. If she had spent another day in the wilderness, she would not have survived.
“Tika is a walking miracle and we’re so glad we found her when we did. She would not have survived another day out there in the condition she was in,” remarked Tika’s rescuers.
Despite her rescue, Tika faced significant challenges ahead. She was too weak to eat or stand, requiring urgent veterinary attention, which led to her transfer to a local clinic.
During her initial ten days in intensive care, Tika was placed on an IV and received around-the-clock attention. Her caregivers’ dedication paid off as she gradually started to recover, and the moment she ate from a syringe for the first time marked a significant turning point in her journey to recovery.
Everyone, Meet Princess Tika
After spending days curled up on a blanket at the Texas rescue, Tika finally took her first steps, signaling that she was ready for a foster home. Matched with a wonderful foster mom, Tika made friends, adapted to her new surroundings, and blossomed into a little princess, thrilled with every aspect of her new life, including the cozy dog bed prepared for her.
However, Tika encountered another hurdle when she was diagnosed with canine epilepsy, resulting in occasional seizures. Nevertheless, she remains an incredibly happy pup, embracing her new life to the fullest!
Tika is profoundly grateful for her second chance. “She’s so thankful for everyone who came together to save her little life just in time. Today she is alive and happy,” her rescuers expressed. Her sweet disposition and zest for life have helped her overcome each hurdle, leading her foster mom to realize that she was meant to be part of their family.
After a few beautiful weeks in her foster home, Tika was finally adopted. She now has a loving family and a forever home, where she knows what it truly means to be cherished. Tika couldn’t be happier!
