From the moment we welcome dogs into our lives, we commit to showering them with love and care for eternity, helping our furry companions grow into confident and happy beings. However, it breaks my heart to learn that many dog owners abandon their beloved pets in perilous locations, leaving them to fend for themselves. Left in confusion, these loyal pups wait, believing their families will return for them.
One such pup, Ribbles, waited at the railway for her owners after they abandoned her. Day after day, she risked her life hoping to see the familiar faces she adored. But how long would her wait continue? Would she ever find the happiness she truly deserves?
Believing Her Family Didn’t Abandon Her

After being left at a railway in Southern California, Ribbles believed her family would return for her. Despite the dangers of staying on the train tracks, she continued waiting, unwilling to leave the spot where she last saw them. Each day that passed diminished her hope, but she held onto the belief that her owners would come back.
Fortunately, a compassionate woman spotted Ribbles just as she was dodging an oncoming train. After failing to catch her, the woman called Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy, alerting her to Ribbles’ dangerous predicament, which began the rescue mission.
Ribbles’ Rescue Mission

Hall rushed to the railroad, where she found Ribbles on the tracks. While there, five trains passed, and each time, Ribbles would scurry into a small hole in the fence leading to a dealership property. The staff there noticed her and kindly fed and provided shelter for the frightened dog.
Grateful for their assistance, Hall set a humane trap inside the property to safely capture Ribbles. After attempting to lure her with food and recognizing that Ribbles was hesitant to approach her presence, Hall decided to give her space and come back the next day. When she returned, her heart sank at the sight on the tracks, but it turned out to be coyotes scavenging.
Much to her joy, the trap revealed that Ribbles had entered it, leading to her long-awaited rescue.

After rescuing Ribbles, Hall took her to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California, where the vet diagnosed her with a severe ear infection along with a swollen leg and elbow. It was heartbreaking to learn that she had suffered while patiently waiting alone at the railroad.
Hall was moved by Ribbles’ courage. Despite the constant dangers around her, including coyotes and trains, her loyalty and love for her family overshadowed her fear.
Finding Her Place Under The Sun

After her recovery, Ribbles, now renamed Lucy, found her forever home. Her new family instantly fell in love with her, recognizing she was meant to be theirs. Now living in Joshua Tree, surrounded by the unconditional love of her family and her new dog sister, Lucy happily embarks on hiking adventures.

We are overjoyed that Lucy found her forever home, basking in the love and care every dog deserves. Unfortunately, numerous dogs still face abandonment in perilous or deserted locations. If you encounter a stray dog, please reach out to your local shelter or rescue. Let’s work together to save these innocent souls and show them they are not alone.
