Imagine enjoying a game of fetch with your dog in the yard, only for it to take a surprising turn. One moment, the ball is flying through the air, and your pup is chasing after it; the next, he disappears out of sight, seemingly vanishing while running for the ball. This is exactly what happened to a family in Washington, who realized their dog had fallen into a sinkhole during playtime.
It Was A Sinkhole?!

When Rip, the dog, played fetch, he unexpectedly fell into a 10-foot deep sinkhole. Despite the shocking situation, he wasn’t injured. The frantic family raced to the spot and called 9-1-1, bringing in the firefighters from Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue for assistance.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found Rip calmly sitting in the sinkhole, which allowed them to formulate a rescue plan. They first set up a ladder around the sinkhole as a platform for extraction. Attempts to use webbing to lift him were unsuccessful, prompting them to lower one of the ladders into the hole.
A Smooth Rescue

With one firefighter descending the ladder to assist, they successfully lifted Rip out of the sinkhole and back into the arms of his family. Relieved, they celebrated the happy reunion, grateful that, despite the frightening ordeal, Rip emerged unscathed.
Certainly shaken from the experience, Rip was observed shivering momentarily before settling down upon seeing his loved ones. The professionalism and coordination of the firefighters ensured a smooth rescue, demonstrating the effectiveness of teamwork in overcoming challenges.
