As a former dog parent, I confess that I often indulged my furry friend with cuddles and treats—okay, more than just occasionally, and he absolutely relished every moment. This, of course, meant he had a flair for the dramatic when it came to attention.
Whenever he felt a bit under the weather, we would shower him with food and gifts, and he’d perk right up in our company. Similarly, Jean and her husband, Kirby, faced a concerning incident in their local North Carolina park with their dog, Jaqweenie.
What Was The Injury
Upon examining Jaqweenie, they noticed something was amiss; he was holding up one of his hind legs, which was trembling. After a quick inspection, they couldn’t find any visible injuries but wondered if he might have a fracture. Without delay, they rushed him to the ER, only to find it overcrowded and unable to see him immediately. So, they quickly changed plans, heading instead to a veterinarian clinic for a thorough evaluation.
Once at the clinic, they began by taking Jaqweenie’s blood pressure and checking his knee for any dislocations. Despite their efforts, the underlying issue remained elusive. Eventually, however, a sharp-eyed vet discovered a very small cut on one of Jaqweenie’s paws—so minor it had escaped notice before.
It Was A Very Small Cut
Described as akin to a ‘paper cut,’ this tiny injury surprisingly incurred a $150 vet bill. They quickly wrapped his paw with a special bandage, and since Jaqweenie was reluctant to walk, his loving parents carried him home. Once there, he received bountiful cuddles and affection, which he clearly appreciated.
After receiving ample affection from his devoted owners, Jaqweenie gradually regained his strength and soon made his way into the kitchen, ready to snack on something. At that moment, they knew he would return to his usual, playful self.
Finding humor in the entire escapade, they decided to share a video of it on Instagram, remarking, “Bless his heart! I’m glad Jaqweenie has become so sheltered that the tiniest cut rocks his world.” In the end, everyone found his dramatic reaction amusing, resonating with many, and Jean and Kirby were thrilled to see such a positive response.
