Disabled Dog Thrilled When Virginia Owner Fosters a Pup Who Mirrors His Condition

Date:

Adopting a dog with a disability is one of the noblest things a person can do. A pup struggling with a medical issue can lead to a tragic situation; however, giving them a chance at a fulfilling life can make all the difference. While many people hesitate to adopt a dog that may add extra expenses to their lives, it’s essential to remember that these dogs are just as capable of love.

Ruhn, a three-legged puppy, embodies this spirit. His cheerful demeanor never wavered, and his happiness grew when his owner, Brittany Ketcham, did something incredible.

They Are Both The Same

When Brittany first adopted Ruhn, she was amazed at how cheerful and outgoing he was. As she shared with The Dodo: “You would never know he was missing a leg. He doesn’t miss a beat! He’s faster than some of the dogs, and he loves to dig…” In fact, Brittany often has to point out to others that he is a three-legged dog because they usually don’t notice at first.

With a passion for helping dogs, Brittany has fostered many at her home in Virginia, aiding up to eleven puppies so far. Everything changed when Ruhn met a new pup named Tricycle, who also had three legs. This connection was profound for Ruhn, as it meant he had a buddy just like him. They bonded almost instantly.

Start Of An Amazing Friendship

Brittany mentioned, “I have taken a step back from fostering because we’re at 12 permanent dogs right now, but when I saw one was a tripod, I told her I’d take him.” In many ways, Ruhn became a mentor to Tricycle, showing him how to navigate the world better. Brittany observed, “Ruhn loves other dogs and I think he was so excited to see a dog walking/hopping like him. He immediately started playing with him and trying to get him to run around.

It’s heartwarming to witness Tricycle’s progress under Ruhn’s influence, and their friendship is truly remarkable. For Ruhn, having a friend who understands his circumstances means the world. Although he is friendly with all dogs he meets, Tricycle holds the special place of being his best buddy. While their future remains uncertain, I hope Tricycle finds a loving family nearby, allowing the two to continue their incredible friendship.
