A Heartbreaking Story
Nova is an exceptionally special dog. Despite her rough beginnings, she longed for a normal life but was abandoned by her owner on the road, with a ‘free’ sign displayed on her kennel. It’s absolutely tragic that someone would subject a dog to such treatment, especially on a busy highway.
Fortunately, a compassionate stranger noticed her and couldn’t ignore her plight. This Good Samaritan shared her story online, hoping a rescue organization would intervene.
Unexpectedly, Madison Nygard, a volunteer with Pawfect Match Rescue in North Carolina, saw the post and sprang into action. She recalled, “I was on my way. I had seen it a couple of minutes after it had posted it. I got to Nova before the post hit the hour mark.” Arriving at the scene, Nygard felt horrified by the sign and the situation she discovered.
Nova’s New Chapter
Nygard conversed with the animal control officers present but ultimately resolved to rescue Nova. She transported her to a veterinarian clinic for a health check-up and necessary treatments. “I knew that at least if I brought her into the house, she would have food in her belly, and I could physically monitor.” Now in Nygard’s foster care, Nova could finally relax and enjoy her new surroundings, expressing her gratitude at every opportunity.
Nova quickly adapted to her foster home, forming bonds with the family members and showcasing remarkable progress despite her troubled past. Although she enjoyed her time there, Nygard recognized the importance of finding her a permanent home and began exploring adoption options. Though the process may take time, Nova relishes her days filled with warmth, delicious treats, and the love of her caring family.
