This was the grim fate faced by a Pit Bull named Ivy, who was surrendered to a Maryland shelter and quickly marked for euthanasia. Fortunately, a miracle occurred when her microchip revealed her history and identity.
Shocking, Yet Amazing Realization
Upon learning about Ivy, the team at Laila’s Legacy Animal Rescue sprang into action. Ivy arrived at the shelter in dire condition, emaciated with skin problems and wounds on her legs. Their determination was further fueled when they discovered her remarkable age through her microchip.
Despite her youthful appearance, Ivy’s microchip revealed she was actually 19 years old—an astonishing discovery that inspired the rescue team. They shared a heartwarming video on Instagram showing Ivy smiling in the arms of her rescuer, as if she understood that her near fate had been averted.

With dedication and support, they worked on this issue, and after 113 heartfelt days filled with love, Ivy’s demeanor transformed.
On October 28, the happiest news arrived— a wonderful family fell in love with Ivy and offered her a forever home.
From the brink of euthanasia, this once-forgotten canine has now met a joyful ending. Thanks to the kindness of many and one remarkable detail from her microchip, Ivy will spend her golden years surrounded by love and happiness.
