When Jordyn and Derek Slack opened their front door one day, they were shocked to find a severely malnourished Boxer puppy waiting for help on their porch. With a pleading expression, he gazed at them, hoping for kindness. Recognizing his plight, Jordyn gently stroked him and vowed to provide assistance.
Jack Is No Longer Alone
The family fed Jack and called the local shelter, which promptly sent staff to collect him. After taking him to the vet for shots, they found he didn’t have a microchip. Eager to find his family, Jordyn posted about Jack on local Facebook groups, but there were no leads. They speculated he hadn’t been alone for long since he was clean and free of fleas or ticks. When the shelter asked the Slacks if they could foster him for the weekend, they eagerly agreed and embraced their new furry friend.
Initially, Jack was exhausted and spent most of his time resting, but once he recovered, he met the couple’s daughter, Baylor. An instant bond formed between them as he followed her everywhere.
“He has really taken up with our ten-year-old daughter Baylor. They are the best of friends. I think he has found his person. He follows her everywhere she goes… He loves and she really loves him…“ Slack said in a TikTok video. The family fell in love with Jack and considered adopting him.
The Pup Finds A Forever Home
Unfortunately, their French Bulldog didn’t get along with Jack, leading to conflicts whenever they were in the same room. Despite the affection they felt for him, the Slack family realized they couldn’t keep him. Determined not to return him to the shelter, they worked to find Jack a loving forever home.
Shortly after, a compassionate man reached out expressing interest in adopting Jack. He and his wife were well-versed in the breed as they had previously owned a Boxer and were eager to provide a nurturing environment for Jack. With their retirement allowing them ample time, they looked forward to showering him with love.
Upon meeting the couple, Jack immediately expressed his affection by jumping into the woman’s lap and showering her with kisses. “As soon as the lady sat down, he jumped up in her lap and was licking her on the face. It was really sweet and they were so excited,” Jordyn shared on TikTok. Living just a short distance away in Athens, Tennessee, Jack can be visited by Baylor whenever she wants.
While the Slack family is heartbroken that they couldn’t keep Jack, they find solace in knowing they acted in his best interest. His new family is committed to providing him with the loving life he deserves.
