All our pups truly need to be happy is our endless love. Watching their tails wag with excitement and seeing their innocent eyes light up with affection fills our hearts with immense joy. Unfortunately, not all dog owners share this sentiment. It is heartbreaking to know that some people are capable of hurting and mistreating these sweet creatures who give us so much unconditional love. How can anyone betray such innocent beings?
Ladybird was one of those defenseless pups who learned how cruel people can be when she was heartlessly abandoned and tied to a tree. Despite feeling cold and frightened, this brave little fur baby stood by the tree, her sorrowful eyes fixed on the nearby road, hoping someone would notice her and provide the love she so desperately needed.
Spotting A Defenseless Puppy
While driving along a road in Kentucky, a compassionate driver spotted a small brown and white puppy sitting next to a tree. Upon slowing down, they noticed that the little fur baby was tied up. Heartbroken, they quickly contacted Lewis County Animal Shelter. The rescuers promptly responded and rescued the fur baby, later bringing her back to the shelter. Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals recalled, “She was just so stoic sitting there by the tree, waiting for someone to notice her. We’re so thankful that the shelter found her.”
When Ladybird arrived at the shelter, she was understandably frightened and unsure. The shelter staff realized that this public shelter was too overwhelming for such a tiny, delicate puppy in need of love and comfort. Upon seeing Ladybird’s photo on the shelter’s Facebook, Desroches expressed her heartbreak over the situation. The tiny puppy, around six to seven weeks old, stirred disbelief among the staff who couldn’t fathom how anyone could abandon such a sweet creature. Determined to help, Desroches set out to find a loving foster home for Ladybird to ensure she wouldn’t be exposed to the various illnesses prevalent in the shelter.
Ladybird Leaves The Shelter
Eventually, Desroches successfully secured a foster home for Ladybird, where the sweet puppy received an abundance of love and attention. With care, Ladybird overcame her fears, becoming relaxed and playful. After some time with her foster family, the rescuers found a placement for her at Licking County Humane Society, a rescue located in Ohio.
On January 27th, 2024, the rescue announced on their Facebook page that the sweet puppy is pending adoption. We’re keeping our fingers crossed and hopeful that Ladybird has found her forever home, where she will be cherished and loved without end, and never again feel helpless or abandoned.
