Wisconsin Officer Stunned to Discover Abandoned Pup in Park Accompanied by a Note

Date:

A heart-wrenching incident in Platteville, Wisconsin, highlights the critical issue of stray and abandoned dogs that need urgent assistance for their safety and welfare. Countless furry friends are left to survive on their own across the country, each bearing a unique and often traumatic past, including little Lola, who literally jumped at the opportunity to be saved.

‘Take Me To A Shelter…’

The Platteville Police Department (PPD) recently posted about this abandoned dog, which is common for them to handle. However, this case was unique as the dog came with a handwritten note. When the officer arrived at Mound View Park and Campground, where the dog was spotted, the female pup eagerly jumped into the police car. “This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” stated the Facebook post. Upon closer inspection, the officer noticed something unusual—a note attached to the pink collar the dog was wearing. The note read: “Please help. Take me to a shelter. My name is LOLA.”

Reading the note and looking into the dog’s soulful eyes left the officer deeply saddened. This adorable girl had clearly been abandoned by her owners, an act that is deemed illegal under the municipal ordinance in Platteville.

Lola’s (P)Update

“We are asking for the public’s help in locating Lola’s original owners. We wish to speak with them. Thank you in advance,” stated the police department. Lola’s story captured the community’s attention, provoking curiosity about her past and the reason behind her abandonment. As the PPD investigated her history, Lola was taken to the Platteville Veterinary Clinic, which began searching for a loving forever home.

Fortunately, just a week later, Lola found her forever home. Both the PPD and the veterinary clinic announced that Lola was adopted and is headed to a fantastic new life. We wish sweet Lola all the happiness in her new environment, hoping she is never abandoned again.

*As of the time of this article’s publication, there has been no further information on the investigation regarding Lola’s previous owner.
