While driving home from a small getaway by the Columbia River in Washington, Natalie Therese and her partner spotted something odd in the mist: a furry clump in the middle of the road. They decided to stop and investigate.
Rescue Mission

“I yelled to watch out and pull over,” Natalie recounted as she cautiously approached the mysterious creature. To her surprise, there were three baby otters!

My partner thought they were just a clump of dirt or something!
Natalie speculated that the mother otter likely fled from their approaching car, leaving the babies confused and stranded on the road. After a quick search, they spotted the concerned mother in the nearby woods, watching over her young ones.
Safe And Sound
Realizing she couldn’t leave the otters there, Natalie devised a plan to safely guide them back to their mother. “I gently encouraged them off the road,” she explained, standing by their side to usher the tiny family in the right direction.
I stood back by the car and waited until the mother came out and all three babies ran off the road together. Then I waited a few more minutes to make sure they wouldn’t run back to the road.
Thankfully, Natalie recorded the entire rescue, capturing the adorable baby otters on video.
