Although being a rescuer is incredibly fulfilling, it often comes with heart-wrenching experiences. One such instance involved Faith Easdale, who spotted a little pup by a busy road dressed in a pink dress, leading her to believe the dog had an owner who would return for her. However, after several days, the same pup remained in the same spot.

Never-Ending Wait

Easdale realized that the pup was waiting because she believed her owners would come back for her, a sadness evident on her little face. As a rescuer with Dream Fetchers, based in California, Easdale knew she had to help this pup.

“Oh no, poor little baby, sitting and waiting. I raced out there, but I didn’t see her,” Easdale wrote in a Facebook post, recounting her panic and search efforts.

After inquiring, a local informed Easdale that he had seen the pup at that spot for days and sometimes hiding in the bushes when startled. Following leads, Easdale searched the area until she finally found the pup.

“I approached quietly and there she was, the saddest sight. We carefully set up baby gates, and I moved in slowly since she was terrified,” Easdale described.

After spending time with her, Easdale discovered the pup’s sweet nature and quickly gained her trust. “Once she felt comfortable, she crawled into my lap, showering me with kisses. I removed her filthy dress, gave her a nice dinner, and a soft blanket,” she shared.

Start Of Something New

Once back home, Easdale treated the pup to a much-needed bubble bath and a checkup for any obvious health issues. Aside from her severely matted coat, she was healthy and happy! Easdale also searched for a collar or microchip, but as none were found, she was uncertain if the pup had been abandoned.

“We rarely get to know their stories. If an owner existed, they likely would have come by now. The area where she waited wasn’t safe,” Easdale explained to The Dodo.

The next morning, Easdale took the pup for a spa day. When she returned, she was astonished to see the pup transformed into an unrecognizable beauty!

She named the pup “Sugar” and began her new life. “This feels like a turning point — a beautiful Cinderella story. Giving them a second chance is what motivates us to continue,” Easdale shared in another Facebook post.

Sugar is now looking for a loving foster home to help her relax and adjust, with Easdale confident that this sweet girl will quickly find her forever home.
