While being a rescuer can be immensely rewarding, it is also filled with emotional challenges. Kate, a compassionate woman, has dedicated her life to providing shelter for animals in need, fostering numerous furry friends who have left a lasting impression on her heart. However, none have etched their mark quite like Nacho. After being contacted by the Nebraska Humane Society about a puppy desperately needing a home, Kate welcomed him into her life.

For three months, Nacho and Kate formed an inseparable bond, embracing every adventure they could find. When a family expressed interest in adopting Nacho, Kate felt a mix of joy and sorrow; she was delighted that he would finally have a family but saddened to say goodbye.

Understanding the realities of fostering, Kate moved on with her life, relocating to Ohio. However, she soon discovered that fate had other plans; while browsing the Nebraska Humane Society’s website, she spotted Nacho’s familiar face once again, searching for a new home.

What Loves You Will Come Back

“My friend let me know he was found as a stray. Previous owners were contacted but didn’t claim him, so I went and adopted him,” Kate shared with Geobeats.

The reunion felt incredibly natural; it was as if they had never been apart. Seeing Nacho seamlessly integrate back into her life filled Kate with happiness. With another pup at home, witnessing their joyful companionship brought her immense joy.

Kate recalled, “The first night he got home, it felt like he was saying, ‘I’m home. I’m here. This is where I belong.’” Delightfully, Nacho resumed his old habit of resting his head on Kate’s shoulder while sitting together, reaffirming her belief that he was indeed her soul dog.

She further added, “Nacho needs to be by a human. He loves to cuddle while I watch TV, always half on my lap while I work. He refuses to sleep anywhere but my bed, where he takes over. We are both healing each other.”

As the saying goes, the rest is history. This wonderful duo is overjoyed not only for a second chance but to embrace life together to the fullest!
