Dog and His Little Brother Were Unbreakable—Until a Texas Family Faced Heartbreaking News

Date:

Some dogs take their time to adapt to changes in their environment or when a new family member arrives, while others, like Kendall, are simply born to embrace it!

Kendall quickly shifted into nanny mode when her owners welcomed a new baby, immediately showering her brother with love, leaving her parents in awe of her nurturing instincts.

She’s A Natural Babysitter

Emily Wright, who adopted Kendall from a high-euthanasia shelter after she was abandoned, expressed, “What an absolute gem of a dog they gave up, but if they hadn’t, she wouldn’t be part of our family. Best dog ever.” She brought Kendall home with her dog brother, Tiger. Their lives changed for the better, especially when their son Austin was born, and Kendall immediately turned into momma dog mode.

“When Austin was born, she just went straight into mothering mode,” Emily shared in a remarkable interview with The Dodo.

Kendall started checking on Austin in his room, gently licking his head to ensure he was okay. Emily and her husband often captured this heartwarming sight through their baby monitor, bringing them immense joy.

Austin and Kendall grew inseparable, enjoying a bond that showcased their unique friendship, with Kendall always maintaining her nurturing nature.

However, their joyful family life took a serious turn when a vet visit altered everything…

After days of Kendall exhibiting signs of being unwell, the family decided to visit the vet, where they sadly learned of the heartbreaking diagnosis: Kendall had lymphoblastic lymphoma. Completely devastated, Emily and her husband sought options to extend their beloved dog’s life.

With the support of various organizations dedicated to helping pet owners, they successfully funded Kendall’s chemotherapy.

Fortunately, this loving Golden Retriever responded incredibly well to the treatment!

In October 2024, Lexi’s Legacy Foundation shared the heartwarming news: after several months of treatment, Kendall was now in remission.

“We have some wonderful news to share – Kendall is IN REMISSION!!! 🐾💪👏👏. This sweet 9-year-old Golden Retriever mix was diagnosed with lymphoma and has officially graduated from chemotherapy,” the Foundation announced on Instagram.

Thanks to the relentless efforts of Kendall’s family and the compassionate people who stepped in to help, this nine-year-old golden beauty was back to enjoying her life.

Her remission arrived at an opportune moment as Emily and her husband welcomed another baby, Amon, into their lives, prompting Kendall to naturally step back into her caretaking role!

“She is now helping rear offspring #2 and my heart just can’t take it,” Emily shared on Facebook.

Emily is hopeful that Kendall will continue to create countless happy memories with the family, and so far, Kendall is thriving, relishing her cherished role as a nanny once more.

Good luck, Kendall! Stay strong!
