When Kelly adopted Posie in Alabama, she was surprised to find out that the pup was a senior. Most of Posie’s background remained a mystery, but it was clear she had been through many homes before finding a place with Kelly. The only certainty was that Posie was at least 13, possibly 15 years old.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Posie’s past, Bergman loved her dearly and wanted to provide the best life possible for her. They moved to New Jersey, where Posie’s unfortunate incident occurred. Bergman noticed Posie coughing frequently and took her to the vet, where shocking news awaited her.
The veterinarian discovered some surprising news during the examination. An X-ray revealed foreign pellets lodged near Posie’s heart, identified as BB gun pellets. It became clear that Posie had been shot at some point during her time in New Jersey. Thankfully, the pellets were not causing her any issues and the vet prescribed steroids to address the cough she was experiencing, ensuring that she received proper care.

After this unfortunate revelation, Bergman shared Posie’s story on Reddit, garnering numerous responses from the online community. One commenter expressed sympathy, stating, “Omg, people are terrible! I am so sorry. Thank you for adopting an older dog. She must believe she went to heaven when you adopted her.”
It’s beyond comprehension why someone would shoot a defenseless dog. Such cruelty is heart-wrenching. Another commenter shared a similar story: “I understand this well.
