Florida Dog Sisters, Repeatedly Surrendered Together, Finally Have a Chance at Happiness

Date:

When Layla and Lola arrived at their local shelter, they pledged to support each other until they found a loving family willing to adopt them. It didn’t take long for someone to take them home, but unfortunately, their stay in their new environment was brief. After being adopted and returned to the shelter twice, the adorable sisters began to feel that they only had one another in this world.

Everything changed when Humans and Animals United (HAAU) discovered their story. Rosa Fond, the founder of this nonprofit animal rescue in Florida, immediately took action, doing everything possible to bring these precious pups into her care.

Help Is On The Way

After raising emergency funds to rescue the pups and seeking a loving foster home that could accommodate both, Fond successfully brought them out of the shelter, transforming their lives forever.

When HAAU volunteers arrived to pick up Layla and Lola, they were filled with excitement. The moment they saw the pups’ joyful reaction made the experience even more memorable. “Seeing them leave the shelter that kept them safe brings tears to our eyes. The girls have a new beginning, and this time, it will be a forever happily ever after!” HAAU shared on Facebook.

Fortunately, the entire moment was captured and shared on social media, allowing everyone to witness the love:

@humansandanimalsunited ❤️🐾🎉 LAYLA AND LOLA HAVE BEEN RESCUED BY HUMANS AND ANIMALS UNITED!!!! Please honor pledges via PayPal at [email protected] or via Venmo at humansandanimals-unitedinc or via Zelle at 8137631199 The girls have a new beginning and this time it will be a forever happily ever after! Seeing them leave the shelter who kept them safe until we arrived brings tears to our eyes. It was a celebration which we would like to share with all of you! Thank you for helping us save these girls! It wasn’t an easy task as we had to work through a holiday weekend but we did it!!!!! Layla and Lola are now at the vet. They have found a foster home where they will be transported to once cleared medically. We are looking forward to seeing these girls decompress, play and have their 1st night sleep. We cannot thank everyone enough for yet again being part of saving these lives who need us the most! 🥺 Their Story…. 🚨‼️ RESCUE ONLY!!!!! Being Euthanized is not rescued. Shelter has been blasting for help for a while without anyone stepping up. Layla and Lola are on their 3rd trip to Rockdale AC in Conyers GA. The owner has reclaimed them reluctantly 2 times and each time they come back in worse shape than before. We believe he is only reclaiming to avoid citations😳😡 Lola is 62 pounds and Layla is 65 pounds and both are heartworm negative and about 2 years old. NEED TO BE FULLY VETTED, SKIN ISSUES, ABCESS ON NECK ON ONE OF THEM, EAR INFECTION ON ANOTHER. They seem to be lab hound mixes and are sweet with people and good with other dogs. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE RESCUE THESE GIRLS TO SAVE THEM??? We do not believe the owner will reclaim this time. Rockdale County Ga #AC1291 #AC1804 ❤️🐾 Thank you all for your continued support in our rescue mission 🐾❤️ #HumansandAnimalUnited #georgia #animalrescue #rosafond #humansandanimalsunited #coralsprings #savinglives #rescuedogsoftiktok #HAAU #rockdalecounty #fosterssavelives #florida ♬ som original – Casais Perfeitos

The volunteers transported Layla and Lola to a local veterinary hospital for a thorough checkup. Once the vet confirmed they were healthy, they were taken to the Florida rescue to meet other animals.

Foster Home

Recognizing the importance of keeping the sisters together, HAAU found a foster home that offered twice the love they needed. “They are bonded. We would never [separate] them. They need [and] depend on each other. [It’s] the only way to do right by these girls,” HAAU stated in a Facebook comment.

Amidst all the love, a caring family offered to take them in. As soon as they arrived, Layla and Lola instantly bonded with them! “As promised, these girls have been kept together. Fully vetted, they are settling in perfectly at their foster home,” HAAU noted on Facebook.

I am confident that when the time is right, these sweet girls will find their forever home, where they can enjoy a happy and active life. For now, they are thriving in their foster home, surrounded by loving humans who are ensuring they have everything they need and more. “They are definitely lucky girls,” HAAU commented on Facebook.
