Animal control rescued a stray Pittie named Juni, discovering she had recently given birth to puppies. Despite their efforts, her babies were nowhere to be found, so the shelter in Houston, Texas took her in. Juni, a sweet girl, began to heal from the separation.
After around forty days, she was ready for a fresh start when disaster struck. Due to limited space, Juni was placed on the euthanasia list, and time was running out for her to find a hero.
Rescued At The Last Minute

A woman named Heather, mourning the loss of her dog Briley, came across Juni’s story on social media and felt a profound connection to her. “When I saw her face, I just knew deep in my bones that she was meant to be our family,” she recounted to GeoBeats Animals. Desperate to save her, Heather contacted numerous rescues, but her efforts were in vain, leaving her heartbroken as she cried herself to sleep.
The next morning, to Heather’s relief, she discovered on social media that Dawgs Fight Back, a rescue in Salem, New Hampshire, had stepped in to save Juni. Overjoyed, Heather and her husband decided to adopt her. After an adoption interview and paperwork, Juni found her forever family before the rescue could even pull her from the shelter.
Once transported to her new home in Portland, Oregon, Juni met her parents and instantly felt loved, snuggling into Heather’s lap with excitement.
Juni’s New Life

Juni adjusted quickly to her new home, finding comfort and safety as if she had always belonged there, relishing the warmth and love of her family. Heather and her husband delighted in watching her sleep peacefully.

Upon her arrival, the shelter staff scanned Juni and found her original family. Tragically, she had been missing for four years, and despite their attempts to contact her family, they received no response. Uncertainty lingered whether the microchip details were updated or her family’s circumstances had changed.
Juni brought an abundance of love into her new family, helping them heal from their loss of Briley. With Heather occasionally needing to rest due to health issues, Juni became her devoted companion: “And she’s just the best nurse. She just wants to lay by me and cuddle and lick your face and make you feel better,” Heather shared.

Thanks to her loving parents, Juni experiences the beauty of life. She enjoys running on the beach and exploring her surroundings. From an abandoned dog on the brink of euthanasia, Juni transformed into the happiest dog in the world, and her journey inspires all of us.
