One morning in Atlanta, Georgia, Zoë stepped onto her front porch and was confronted with a shocking sight: a severely emaciated stray dog curled up on her bench. The frightened canine was desperately trying to hide his face with his tail, attempting to “blend in” with his surroundings.
How Did He Get There
In a viral TikTok video, Zoë highlighted the extent of the dog’s trauma, sharing that he “shivered with fear” until he realized she was there to help. “Woke up to a stray dog sleeping on our front porch,” she wrote in the video description.
The comments section was quickly filled with heartfelt reactions: “Covering his face with paw AND tail. I wish him years of happiness,” wrote one user. “So sad, he’s trying to make himself invisible. He just wanted a safe spot to sleep. Ugh, I wish I could save them all,” another added.
After checking for a microchip, Zoë was disheartened to find that the dog had no information despite wearing a collar, indicating he had likely been abandoned.
Fortunately, a neighbor stepped in and offered to foster the dog, who was later named Capital. Zoë, already managing two reactive dogs and a one-year-old baby, was immensely grateful. However, this relief was short-lived. The next day, she learned that the neighbor had surrendered Capital to a high-euthanasia animal shelter in Atlanta due to his “reactiveness to their other dogs.” Zoë lamented, “He was taken to the Fulton County animal shelter by the person who signed up to foster him, without telling me.”
Capital Needs Help
Since Capital’s surrender to the shelter, Zoë has been tirelessly searching for the perfect home for him. Heartbroken over being unable to adopt him herself, she has been actively posting appeals on her TikTok account, hoping someone will come forward to give him a chance. Thankfully, a kind donor has already covered Capital’s adoption fees.
“He is in Atlanta and needs a home if anyone is able to help. His adoption fees have been paid,” Zoë stated.
Capital is eager for a new family. Despite his traumatic past, he is friendly and does not show aggression toward people. He truly deserves someone to show him the love and kindness he’s been missing!
