Virginia Construction Workers Stunned to Discover Abandoned Kittens in a Dumpster and Spring into Action

Date:

Encountering an abandoned or dumped dog is undoubtedly one of the most distressing experiences. Sadly, not everyone possesses compassion, as evidenced by those who commit such cruel acts. While all instances of abandonment are tragic, discarding newborn puppies in an inhumane manner is particularly egregious. Reports of such incidents bring tears to our eyes, making it impossible to comprehend the pain of witnessing it in person. This was the reality for a construction worker in Appomattox, Virginia, who found himself confronted with an unimaginable sight during his work.

Poor Little Ones

While working in Appomattox, the construction worker unexpectedly heard faint cries coming from a nearby dumpster. His heart sank as he discovered that the source of these cries was a dog food bag containing four newborn puppies, cold to the touch.

“He looked inside to find a dog food bag with four newborn brown and white puppies,” Appomattox Animal Shelter informed The Dodo. “They were cold to the touch.”

Without hesitation, he contacted animal control, and rescue officers swiftly arrived at the scene to safely retrieve the puppies and transport them to Appomattox Animal Shelter.

Safe And Sound

Upon arrival at the shelter, the puppies were provided with a warm bed and nourishment. It was discovered that they were so young their eyes and ears had yet to open, still attached to their umbilical cords. Remarkably, they were just 24 hours old, making it a miracle they survived.

“Considering how young these puppies were and taken away from Mom so soon, they were in very good condition,” the shelter noted. “They took right to bottle feeding and were able to be warmed up fairly quickly.”

The caring staff decided to name the puppies Walter White, Gus Fring, Saul Goodman, and Jane Margolis, after characters from the acclaimed TV series “Breaking Bad.” Soon after, these adorable pups were transferred to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, a nonprofit animal welfare organization in Charlottesville, Virginia. In their new foster home, they will receive the love and care they deserve from compassionate individuals until they find their forever homes.

A bright future surely awaits these little ones with their new guardians.
