Our next story centers on Yogurt, a charming dog who has experienced family betrayal. Her world turned upside down when her owners left her at a shelter, declaring that they no longer wanted her.
Meeting Yogurt
Jamie, an adoption counselor at the Atlanta Humane Society in Georgia, was doing her rounds when she encountered a couple surrendering their dog, Yogurt. They voiced their desire to part ways with her. Upon seeing the trembling pup, Jamie instantly felt a connection and knew she had to take Yogurt home.
Moving To Her Forever Home
After bringing Yogurt home, Jamie realized that the pup had much to learn about being a proper dog, having spent her previous life outdoors as just a backyard pet. Initially, Yogurt refused to eat from a bowl, prompting Jamie to place her kibble directly on the ground. Eventually, she adapted to using the bowl.
Recognizing Yogurt’s shyness, Jamie introduced her to her family’s dog at her parents’ house to encourage socialization. With time, Jamie was patient, allowing Yogurt to adjust at her own pace. After a few months, Yogurt began to flourish, becoming more sociable and embracing her new life. She reveled in meeting new people, much to Jamie’s delight, as she witnessed Yogurt transform into the lively pup she always should have been, finding joy in simple pleasures like rolling over on the grass.
An Unbreakable Bond Between Yogurt And Her Mom
Yogurt and Jamie have developed an exceptional bond, always supporting one another. “We might be a little too codependent… She has stood by me during some of my toughest times, and we share our anxieties but help ground each other,” Jamie reflects. Although not overly cuddly, Yogurt snuggles close to Jamie when she senses her mom is upset, showcasing her love and support.
Jamie has made a promise to Yogurt: they will always be together.
“I love her unconditionally. Whatever happens, she’ll always be mine. I will cherish her for the rest of my life.”
Yogurt is now living her best life, happier than ever. She shares her adventures on her Instagram account, enjoying life with her furry sibling Titan and relishing their new home in Fort Collins, Colorado.
