The life of a stray dog can change in just moments, and it takes a compassionate heart to notice.
From providing food and shelter to a simple pat on the back, each act of kindness leaves a lasting impact on dogs in need.
Scott and Halley, a couple from California, recognized this. So when they had the chance to help a stray pup, they acted swiftly.
His Past Was A Mystery
During a cycling trip through the forest, Scott noticed a strange figure approaching. Curious, he paused to investigate and discovered a black dog, which unfortunately fled before he could extend his hand in friendship.
Due to road closures, Scott and Halley returned the next day. “He turned around to help but the pup had run away and the roads were closed, so we couldn’t bring a car there to get him,” Halley noted on Instagram.
While searching, they spotted nervous movements in the nearby bushes. Halley recognized those fearful eyes peering out and knew it was him.
The couple took their time to offer the dog gentle words and encouragement. When that didn’t work, they resorted to tasty treats to coax him out, and after a few moments, he finally surrendered!
This sweet and gentle pup quickly wrapped himself around Halley and Scott’s legs as if to plead for their help. Fortunately, he no longer had to beg; he was already saved, though he didn’t realize it just yet!
He Stays In The Family
Once at home, the dog adjusted seamlessly to the family life, grateful to have a comfy bed and the freedom to run without the worry of finding his next meal.
Initially uncertain about what to do with their new furry friend, Halley recalled that her in-laws in Colorado had been looking to adopt a dog, making this the perfect opportunity for them!
After several Zoom calls, Halley and Scott embarked on a 15-hour drive to Colorado to reunite the dog with his new family. It was a journey well worth it!
Upon arrival, his new owners couldn’t contain their excitement!
“When they saw him, they were thrilled, especially his mom. They named him Bonez, and he warmed up to them quickly,” Halley shared with The Dodo.
Now, Bonez is living his best life. He enjoys a spacious yard, loving humans, and a future filled with exciting adventures.
Moreover, Bonez will remain in the family, allowing Scott, Halley, and their dog, Patches, to visit him often.
Once a lost stray in the middle of nowhere, Bonez now has everything he ever dreamed of, all thanks to kindness.
