Dog Stranded with Head Trapped in Purple Cheeseball Bucket Roamed the Streets for Days Seeking Help

Date:

Persistence is crucial in dog rescue efforts. Regardless of the challenges faced, the complexity of the situation, or how unfriendly the animal might appear, commitment is essential!

With this approach, rescuers in Illinois began a vital mission that was anything but ordinary—a dog had its head shockingly trapped in a purple bucket for days.

He Was Without Food And Water For Days

Alisha Vianello, director of Gateway Pet Guardians in East St. Louis, Illinois, received multiple reports about the stray dog with the bucket on his head. When they learned of this alarming situation, she and her team quickly mobilized. However, the dog did not make it easy for them. It took days to track him down, and even once they found him, he evaded capture.

Despite their efforts to befriend him, secure him with a leash, and even set humane traps, the dog remained too frightened and skittish for anyone to approach. Acknowledging that he had endured the bucket for at least three days, the team required a different strategy. Prompt action was necessary as the risk of suffocation lingered, and survival in those conditions was uncertain. Instead of waiting for the pup’s fear to dissipate, Dr. Kelsey, a volunteer, employed a tranquilizer dart with a mild sedative to help calm the animal. This allowed the rescue team to finally secure him, and in the next moment, the leash was fastened, and the bucket was removed.

Relieved to have the dog safe and sound on their way to the shelter, everyone on the team felt immense joy at their timely rescue. After a thorough veterinary examination, he received nourishing food and some much-needed affection. Thankfully, aside from the bucket predicament, he had no other health issues. The team then put their heads together for a name, ultimately deciding on a fitting title: Buckethead!

“Naturally, we named him Buckethead, and he is safe and recovering in our shelter,” Vianello concluded.

Once Buckethead was in a warm environment and his belly was full, he started to open up. It didn’t take long for him to relax and show his delightful personality—a real cuddle bug who quickly became a favorite among shelter staff.

The Sweetest Face

A few days later, the team posted a delightful update on Buckethead, sharing a lovely photo that showcased his undeniable cuteness. He wasn’t merely a snuggly pup but also a stylish one, proving that regardless of his unclear history or potential past family, Buckethead’s appearance beautifully mirrored his sweet personality.

Buckethead adores people, gets along well with other dogs, and is undoubtedly the ultimate snuggler.

“Bucket Head’s true colors have emerged since we rescued him last week, and he is the SWEETEST boy! He is super affectionate with everyone he meets and loves to snuggle,” reported the Illinois rescue.

Once Buckethead is out of foster care, he will be ready for his forever home. We eagerly anticipate his next life update!
