Failed by his owner and left for good, this pup’s story illustrates the harsh realities many face. Abandoned in an outdoor restroom, he was scared and isolated, forced to battle with uncertainty at just eight weeks of age. But thankfully, he wasn’t alone.
Thrown Away To Fend For Himself
A woman spotted the puppy on the toilet floor and immediately sprang into action, contacting Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control to report the pup’s dire condition. He was extremely malnourished, with his ribs and spine visible, and his paws stained with urine.
“This sweet boy was malnourished with his rib cage and spine showing, had urine-stained paws and overgrown nails, and was quite scared. Our medical team examined his overall health, and the main concern was getting him to a healthy weight,” the rescue shared in a Facebook post.
In addition to providing medical care, ensuring this sweet boy received abundant love was equally essential. Despite the trauma he had faced, he quickly began to show his true colors. Within minutes, he warmed up to his rescuers, behaving as if he had always belonged with them.
Upon reaching the facility, the puppy blossomed into a delightful lapdog, reveling in the affection bestowed upon him for the first time. Throughout his recovery, the medical team devised a special meal plan to restore his health while being gentle on his digestive system.
The True Testament To How Forgiving Animals Can Be
After his rescue, the puppy was placed in a foster home, which proved to be an excellent decision. Since the moment he met his rescuers, he has been an affectionate little lovebug, finally given the opportunity to embrace a new life. On Facebook, his caregivers documented his behavior:

The rescue organization shared updates on his remarkable first day with his foster family. However, the little pup was missing one crucial element—a name. So, they turned to their Facebook followers for suggestions. A day later, they joyfully revealed the chosen name: “The puppy found abandoned in a porta-potty now has a name…Louie! ✨ The name translates to ‘famous warrior’,” the rescue announced.
Now, Louie is learning socialization and dog manners with his new siblings in a cozy home filled with love and attention. As he embarks on this exciting new adventure, one can only be optimistic that Louie will eventually find a forever family that will cherish him as he deserves.
