Nowadays, it’s common to encounter stray dogs seeking assistance. Some may follow you, hoping for food or water, while others might wag their tails in hopes of adoption.
However, in this unusual tale, a woman named Mizti Brogdon was stopped by a dog for an unexpected reason that will shock you. During one of her errands in Oklahoma, Brogdon came across a peculiar dog in a parking lot. As the president of Street Dog Rescue and Recovery, she couldn’t overlook a sad dog in need.
She approached the dog, later named Dolly, and was pleasantly surprised by her friendly demeanor. Brogdon recounted to The Dodo: “She came right up to me, let me pet her.” It quickly became clear that Dolly wanted something and urged Brogdon to follow her.
A Huge Surprise

Following Dolly, Brogdon discovered a path leading to the cell tower, and was astonished to see numerous puppies emerging from behind a fallen log. Initially hesitant, the curious puppies caught her by surprise. Brogdon counted a total of 16 puppies, which was shocking as she had never witnessed anything like this before.
After some thought, she surmised that these puppies likely belonged to different litters and that Dolly wasn’t their mother but was instead caring for them as a nurturing figure. Realizing she needed assistance, Brogdon called a friend for backup, and together they managed to trap all the puppies and transport them to a shelter.
With the puppies secured, Brogdon faced the next challenge: there were too many to care for alone. She went live on Facebook, reaching out for help, which resulted in four different Oklahoma animal shelters responding: Forever Yours Dog Rescue, 405 Animal Rescue, The Fuzzy Friends Fund, and Safe Haven Animal Rescue.
The puppies were taken to a veterinary clinic for standard check-ups and treatments before being assigned to foster homes, where they would wait to be adopted. Eventually, Dolly was adopted by a new family, enjoying her life in a loving forever home.
