If only there were a way to assist all the stray puppies and avert situations where they end up in dreadful conditions.
Yet, that’s just a dream. The reality is significantly more complex, and we can’t simply wish this issue away.
Nonetheless, we can each contribute to the solution. If individuals took the initiative to report stray dogs in dire need to the appropriate authorities, we could collectively make a significant difference.
This effort could help alleviate the situation, but it all starts with taking the first step. Take, for instance, this newborn puppy who was abandoned and fighting for survival before his rescuers swiftly came to his aid.
A Long Healing Journey
When rescuers discovered this sweet newborn puppy, he was found lying amidst garbage. They assessed his condition to ensure he was alright before transporting him to the clinic.
Sadly, they discovered he had a broken leg and his umbilical cord was still attached. Although it was disheartening news, hope remained if they acted swiftly.
He was rapidly taken to the clinic where veterinarians initiated their evaluations and devised a plan to save the puppy.
They identified hypothermia and hypoglycemia, alongside the improperly cut umbilical cord.
The veterinarians administered food via a syringe, successfully stabilizing him. They created a splint to ensure his broken leg was immobilized and alleviated some pain.
Given the necrotizing condition of his leg, there’s a likelihood that amputation may be necessary, though a decision hasn’t been reached yet.
Hearing all of this was incredibly sorrowful. It’s difficult to comprehend why anyone would act in such a way, yet unfortunately, many people lack empathy for animals.
The rescuers are actively searching the area for any information regarding his previous owner, but so far, no leads have surfaced.
A Difficult Treatment
After a few days, the veterinarians discovered that a portion of his broken leg had detached, a concerning development. He faced the risk of developing an infection in the bone, leading to immediate administration of antibiotics.
While there was no certainty of success, they were committed to doing everything possible to aid in his recovery.
Given his young age, surgery couldn’t be performed yet, as he needs to reach at least 30 days old before that can happen.
Meanwhile, the team is doing all they can to manage his necrotic leg, but it seems increasingly unlikely that it can be saved.
Over time, the medications were beginning to work, but his rescuers understood that a difficult surgery was inevitable in the future.
After 20 days, Sushi finally opened his eyes. If he weren’t in pain, he would have had the chance to explore his surroundings. However, for now, that will have to wait.
Both rescuers and veterinarians hope for his recovery against all odds, striving to provide him with the care he requires.
While the future of Sushi remains uncertain, I genuinely hope he recovers and finds a loving family that will offer him a fresh start. He truly deserves it.
