When I first learned about Chance’s story, it broke my heart.
Malicious individuals mistreated the little dog and discarded him like trash. Overcome with feelings of rejection and sadness, his eyes reflected his profound sorrow.
For months, Chance struggled to survive on what little food he could find, becoming so emaciated that he was barely holding on.

The Pup Gets Rescued
A compassionate individual stumbled upon the injured pup, snapped a picture, and shared it on Facebook, urgently seeking help.
Upon seeing Chance’s picture, Denisse Cheuca Garcia, co-founder of D&A Animal Rescue located in Magnolia, Texas, felt a deep sadness.
The little dog appeared frail and was engulfed by fear.
Without wasting a moment, she rushed to his aid.
Upon meeting Chance at the site, her heart sank. The little one was nothing but skin and bones.
His body bore injuries, and he lacked the strength to stand.
As she approached, he lifted his head to look at her. His eyes expressed utter hopelessness. He conveyed defeat.
Though anxious about being near her, she gently gathered him up and hurried him to the veterinarian.
Fighting For His Life
Upon reaching the veterinary clinic, the staff promptly examined him and conducted necessary tests. Diagnoses revealed that Chance was severely anemic and infested with heartworm.
The situation was dire.
He received a blood transfusion and treatment for his injuries, which were likely inflicted by another animal.
Throughout treatment, Chance growled in fear whenever the veterinary team came near him; he had developed a profound distrust of humans.
To comfort him, his rescuer remained by his side, providing reassurance.
Thankfully, Chance began to respond positively to the treatment, and after a few days in the clinic, he was ready to go home.
Chance’s Road To Recovery
Denisse and her husband, Arturo Figeroa, welcomed him into their home and began caring for him diligently.
Chance lacked any strength in his legs; every attempt to walk would often leave him collapsing to the ground.
Though he desperately needed rest, Chance remained on edge, as if anticipating a new threat.
It was evident that along with physical injuries, Chance bore deep emotional scars. He shivered with fear and recoiled at any attempt to touch him.
Denisse and Arturo enveloped him with love and positive reinforcement.
Gradually, Chance started to eat and wag his tail.

The little guy cuddled with his caregivers, absorbing their love. Nonetheless, he still exhibited some wariness towards new people.
Determined to help him conquer his anxiety about the world, his heroes took him on various outings.
Hoping To Get His Happy Ending
Gradually, Chance started to feel secure. He grew more affectionate towards newcomers and no longer recoiled when someone reached out to pet him.
Chance’s transformation has been astonishing. Once the forlorn pup longing for an end, he evolved into a vibrant dog brimming with joy.
This remarkable pup is still hoping for his forever home, but sadly, he continues to be overlooked.
