Unfortunately, there are numerous cases where dog owners abandon their pets in remote locations, leaving them without any hope of assistance. Conversely, some compassionate individuals find themselves in difficult situations, striving to help a dog but eventually feeling compelled to leave when their efforts prove futile.
This particular story focuses on an Arizona resident who abandoned his dog in a park, accompanied by a heart-wrenching note for anyone who might come across it.
A Smart Boy, Baloo
Baloo, a loving one-year-old dog, was left behind by his owner and was just beginning to discover the joys of life. Thankfully, a woman named Lillian Engelhard spotted him in the park and felt compelled to take action.
While uncertain if Baloo had an owner nearby, she knew she had to intervene. She shared her thoughts with The Dodo: “I was out taking one of my dogs for a walk, and we passed a community dog run where a dog was alone.” “I thought perhaps the owners were fetching more supplies or had faced an emergency.”
Engelhard waited in her car to see if anyone would return for Baloo, but no one did. She grew increasingly concerned, as he appeared thirsty and hungry while pacing anxiously.
Baloo Loves Learning New Things
It became clear to Engelhard that it was her responsibility to help Baloo. As she approached him, he responded with excitement, demonstrating his eagerness to connect with a new friend. It was during this moment that Engelhard discovered a note attached to him, stating: “This dog is not trained!!! *I had to leave him. Please save him (Venom).” His cheerful demeanor indicated that he had been well-loved and simply thrived on human interaction.
Despite his high-energy personality, Engelhard recognized the need to train Baloo for better focus. She felt immense pride in the progress he made within just a few days, as he eagerly embraced learning new skills and became proficient in commands such as sit, lie down, stay, and even potty training.
After some time in Engelhard’s foster care, she arranged for his adoption through Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. While we may not know Baloo’s ultimate fate, he is undoubtedly receiving loving care and continues to thrive in learning every day.
