Woman Spots Furry Creature in Trash Pile and Is Astonished by What She Finds

Date:

For Donna Lochmann, a chief life-saving officer based in Missouri, rescuing animals is not merely a job—it’s a heartfelt mission.

Seven years ago, while driving around the city searching for a specific dog, she noticed an unusual movement amid a pile of trash. Upon closer inspection, she stumbled upon a heartbreaking discovery hidden among the refuse.

Curled into a tight ball, the unfortunate dog was almost invisible thanks to his dark fur.

In that instant, Donna knew she had to act quickly—a decision that would change both of their lives forever!

Is That A Furry Friend In Need

Concerned about startling the terrified dog, Donna chose to approach with caution.

Speaking to him in the calmest voice, she was relieved when instead of fleeing, he submitted to her presence.

He remained still, not even lifting his head until Donna was right beside him.

Then, he looked up at her with the most sorrowful expression. His eyes told tales of abandonment and neglect. Finally in Donna’s arms, the dog experienced the warmth of love he had missed for so long.

With his ribs visibly protruding, Donna understood the urgency to provide him assistance.

Within moments, both were en route to Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, where they would determine the best course of action for this little guy.

As destiny would have it, this dog was meant for a brighter future. Thus, he was aptly named Kismet, which signifies “fate.” He soon went to a nurturing foster home with a kind woman named Nikki. In just a few months, Kismet began gaining weight and blossoming into a joyful pup.

“He’s doing wonderfully. He’s gaining weight (yay!) and has started wagging his tail and loves to give kisses. He sleeps a lot on any soft surface he can find,” Nikki shared with his rescuers.

Kismet is such an awesome dog,” she declared.

Still Going Strong Seven Years Later

Nikki’s entire family quickly fell head over heels for Kismet. His charming and loving personality won everyone over, prompting her to officially adopt him.

“They officially adopted him and adore him. Look how fantastic he is doing! She insists he is the most incredible dog and declares herself lucky,” the rescue shared in a Facebook post.

Kismet and Nikki started an incredible journey together, allowing this once-neglected dog to revel in the comforts of a loving home.

Recently, an incredible update came from Nikki and Kismet: seven years after his rescue by Donna, Kismet is now a robust dog who cherishes his new family above all else.

Instead of a garbage heap, he comfortably sleeps in a large bed alongside his mom and enjoys the delight of plenty of toys.

“He sleeps in the big bed with her. He’s so happy. He loves toys. He’s a healthy, hefty boy. His eyes sparkle, lighting up any space he enters,” the rescue added in the most recent update.

Once discarded amid refuse with no prospects for a brighter future, it’s clear that Kismet is now an entirely new dog… all because of the big-hearted individuals who believed in him!
