Texas ER Nurse Goes Above and Beyond to Save Stray Puppy’s Leg from Amputation

Date:

One summer afternoon, while driving along a quiet road in Texas, Christina Mae, an ER nurse, pet enthusiast, and social media influencer, stumbled upon a life-altering moment.

Seeing the confusion and worry on the puppy’s face, Mae pulled over and approached him. To her dismay, she found a painful wound on his paw.

Without hesitation, she picked up the puppy, placed him in her car, and rushed home to care for him.

She named him Max and gave him a warm, sudsy bath as soon as they got home. After he was clean, she prepared a nourishing meal, realizing that this sweet pup must have been hungry for a long time.

As Max explored the house, Mae noticed he was hesitant to put weight on his back leg. This was a clear indication that a vet visit was necessary.

Upon examination, the vet diagnosed Max with a broken hind leg. The best option was to amputate the leg as soon as possible.

Despite her already demanding job and another dog at home, Mae couldn’t allow that to happen to Max. Although she had not planned on adopting another pet, she decided to bring Max home where he has remained ever since.

Road to Recovery

Through extensive research, Mae discovered a vet who believed Max’s leg could be saved through surgery.

Without a second thought, Mae transported Max to a veterinary clinic three hours away and scheduled his first of three necessary surgeries.

The journey to recovery was both long and challenging; however, with a fantastic human companion and five months of dedicated medical attention, Max eventually returned to health!

Not only could he stand on all fours, but he was also jumping and running around happily.

His family couldn’t have been prouder.

It’s astonishing how profoundly we can affect the lives of our furry companions.

Mae’s willingness to stop her car and offer this precious pup a loving home has helped him regain his spirit. And she did this all with a smile.

It was truly a rewarding experience! I’m sure that whenever she sees Max joyfully playing, she is reminded of the difference she made in his life.
