Rescue Pup in New York Transforms into a New Dog After Meeting Her Mom’s Boyfriend

Date:

Sometimes it seems like choosing a dog is less about selection and more about the connection they forge with you. Often, it’s the dogs who gaze into your eyes with a bond so profound that it feels as if your life wouldn’t be complete without them by your side.

Such was the experience for Chelsea when she visited the Animal Care Center in New York. There, she encountered two soulful chocolate brown eyes belonging to a pup named Pickles, and in that moment, her heart was stolen.

Meant To Be

Pickles’ journey before meeting Chelsea was far from ideal. She was found tied to a pole during a brutal heat wave, without any water or shelter. Following a medical assessment, veterinarians discovered that Pickles, just a year old, had recently given birth. Touching her tragic story, the shelter in New York put her up for adoption, hopeful that someone would offer her a better life— and that’s exactly what happened.

Upon arrival at Chelsea’s home, Pickles was a bundle of curiosity. She seemed unsure of what to do, having likely never lived indoors before. Chelsea reminisced, “The car was like a UFO to her. She wouldn’t stop staring at the TV, perplexed by what she saw.” But as Pickles began to settle in, she discovered what she adored most—physical affection!

Whenever Chelsea sat down or laid down, Pickles would dart over for a cuddle. Additionally, she had a soft spot for Chelsea’s boyfriend as well. The instant Pickles met him, she was smitten.

Best Girl Ever

Pickles quickly became what Chelsea affectionately referred to as a “boyfriend stealer.” “She likes to drape her paws over his leg and always positions herself between us to ensure we’re not touching,” Chelsea shared. The once shy pup transformed into a loving diva who craved attention and affection.

Pickles even displayed her jealous side whenever Chelsea got close to her boyfriend. She would often make strange noises to redirect attention back to her.

“Anytime she senses my boyfriend giving me too much focus, she shows her disapproval with a little yell. They’ve truly become two peas in a pod—he’s definitely her boyfriend,” Chelsea remarked.
