Frankie, a five-week-old Pit Bull puppy, felt sadness and confusion when his family rejected him by placing the little furball in a Pampers diaper box and leaving him on West Side property in Buffalo, New York. With his adorable head peeking out from the box, he looked around, his eyes filled with longing, hoping a kind-hearted person would notice him and take him to safety.
The Puppy Gets Help
A local business owner named Robin was taken by surprise when she spotted the adorable puppy, later named Frankie, at her store. She picked him up, assuring him that help was on the way. Frankie felt a wave of relief seeing a kind face; he knew he was finally in good hands. Robin, a dedicated supporter of West Side Cat Rescue, promptly reached out to the shelter for assistance.
Jamie Mulligan, the founder of the shelter, received the call and suspected that whoever abandoned Frankie knew he would receive the care he needed. The rescue staff agreed to take Frankie in, refusing to surrender him to an overcrowded shelter, as they prioritized his needs.
“Unfortunately, the local shelters here are full of pit bulls that no one wants to adopt, so Jamie knew she couldn’t bring him to an overcrowded shelter,” a representative from West Side Cat Rescue shared with The Dodo.
Frankie quickly won the hearts of the staff, yearning to be held and love more than anything else. His shelter friends took him to the vet for a thorough checkup and provided him with puppy food, a leash, and a collar, preparing him for foster care.
Frankie Finds True Love
Jamie’s daughter, who frequently volunteers at the rescue, decided to foster Frankie. His life transformed entirely; he was showered with affection and cuddles in his new home. As the days passed, they developed a deep bond, making it evident that she had fallen in love with him.
When Jamie’s daughter expressed the desire to rename the puppy, they knew it was official—Frankie was home for good. His new name became Percy. “It’s now looking like [Jamie’s] daughter has become attached. Percy is now a foster fail,” a representative mentioned.
Percy felt secure and cherished in the arms of his forever mom, his eyes sparkling with joy as he basked in her unconditional love. He finally found his happily ever after.
