Every dog has the potential to be loving, yet some humans exploit that trust for their own selfish needs.
Mila, a precious pup who likely endured the harsh reality of dogfighting, is a prime example.
Upon her arrival at the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center in Columbus, Ohio, Mila was not well-adjusted to human interaction. However, despite her painful past, she was never hostile; what she craved most was affection.
She Was The Sweetheart From The Beginning

Mila’s path to recovery was filled with challenges.
Her initial visit to the ASPCA facility in Ohio highlighted a serious injury to her back leg, a consequence of the harsh treatment she endured.
“Our team observed an ‘awkward gait’ in Mila, leading her to receive a veterinary consultation. It was determined that she had substantial trauma to her back left leg, necessitating surgery,” shared the ASPCA in a Facebook post.

Months of treatment led to Mila’s full recovery.
After extensive rehabilitation, she gradually regained her strength, allowing her to walk and play like any other dog.
Once she started to open up, the staff recognized the wonderful dog she truly was. Rather than being just a rescue, Mila transformed into a source of support for others in need.
She became a comforting presence for other dogs facing emotional challenges, serving as a shoulder for them.

Mila’s endearing nature brightened everyone’s day. She showed no signs of aggression and thrived in the company of both dogs and humans, truly serving as a beacon of hope!
Mila Deserves a Loving Home

The ultimate happiness arrived months later when a woman named Ashley discovered Mila’s story online and instantly wanted to meet her.
When they finally met, it was clear this was meant to be—Mila and Ashley were an ideal match.
“Knowing Mila’s history in a suspected dogfighting environment made me want her even more. I wanted to show her that she was worthy of love and would never have to fear again,” shared Ashley with ASPCA.
Their connection was effortless and profound, leading Ashley to quickly welcome Mila into her home permanently.

These days, Mila enjoys running with her mom but also loves those cozy moments at home.
Mila cherishes her new life, especially the bond with her human. She is a big sweetheart, enthusiastic about meeting new faces and handling the world with grace.
“There isn’t a more lovey-dovey pup than Mila. She wouldn’t hurt a fly,” Ashley shares.
One thing is certain – this inseparable pair could hardly envision a life apart. Mila has added immense joy to Ashley’s life as they frolic through puddles, frolic in the yard, and embrace new adventures each day.
And isn’t that what life is all about?
