Dog Discovered on Oklahoma Road Reluctantly Turns Down Help – The Reason Will Melt Your Heart!

Date:

While driving down a rural road near Noble, Oklahoma, Alysse Matlock noticed something fluffy in the middle of the pavement. As she approached, she realized it was a miniature Australian Shepherd. Concerned for the dog’s safety, Alysse pulled over and attempted to coax the pup into her car. However, the frightened dog ran away. Fortunately, Alysse managed to snap a photo and post it on Facebook, reaching out to see if anyone recognized the little fur ball.

Rescue Mission

Alysse’s post received an overwhelming number of replies as others reported seeing the same dog in the neighborhood, yet no one knew where she came from. Days later, she was spotted in the middle of Noble, about ten miles from where Alysse first encountered her. With colder weather approaching, animal lovers in town grew increasingly concerned for the dog’s safety. To make matters worse, it was observed that her belly was distended, indicating that she was heavily pregnant and would give birth soon!

In response, Alysse set out to find the dog again, this time determined to rescue her. After a lengthy three-hour search, she attempted to gain Journey’s trust. Unfortunately, as the clock struck 1 a.m., Journey remained elusive, and Alysse had to return home.

Finally Safe

The next day, Alysse returned to find Journey peeking out from behind a pile of trash, where she had created a makeshift shelter to guard against the cold. Each time Alysse tried to entice her into the car, Journey would refuse. Eventually, Alysse and a few locals spotted Journey at the top of a hill, leading to a creative solution. With teamwork and a stash of hotdogs, the rescue team successfully captured the little rascal and got her into the car.

“It was such a relief when she was finally caught. All of us strangers that had stopped on the side of the road that morning started hugging,” Alysse recounted to The Dodo.

New Life

With Journey finally safe in her care, Alysse rushed her to the vet, who confirmed that she would give birth within the next five to seven days. The following morning, Alysse woke up to strange squeaking sounds. To her amazement, two little pups were already beside Journey, with four more joining soon after. Journey had become a proud mother to an adorable and healthy litter of puppies. Resting in a warm and safe environment was crucial for their recovery.

Now in a safe and warm environment, Journey and her puppies were finally able to rest, a crucial step for their recovery. The little family will be kept safe and, should no owners be found, will be put up for adoption through Noble Now Inc. Friends of Noble Animal Shelter. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in helping this adorable Aussie find a safe and loving place to give birth to her precious babies. You all are heroes!
