When Rayce encountered Daisy for the first time, she appeared to be on the brink of despair. Shaking in fear, bewildered, and severely underweight, this beautiful dog faced days filled with uncertainty.

An Act of Kindness
While walking in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Rayce Lamb noticed Daisy lying beside another dog, cut off from basic humane care.
“I ran across Daisy on the road in Winston-Salem. She and another dog were just lying there,” Rayce recounted to GeoBeats Animals.
The most alarming aspect was that Daisy and her companion (later named Rascal) were mere inches away from potential harm.
“The road was very busy. If you saw where we found her, you’d wonder how she survived,” said Rayce.
He and his partner quickly placed the dogs in their vehicle and headed home.
Thanks to the compassionate team at AARF – Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Rayce was able to take the dogs in for fostering.
Initially, Daisy was incredibly shy and would tremble from fear whenever Rayce touched her. She appeared to be dealing with some past traumas, and the details of her story were unclear.
Eventually, someone informed Rayce that the dogs had been abandoned two weeks before their rescue. This revelation helped explain Daisy’s frail condition and significant emaciation.
A mere few days later, Rascal underwent a stunning transformation and was quickly adopted. However, Daisy had to bide her time.
With each passing day, she grew stronger until she finally began to blossom – revealing herself to be the sweetest companion! Beneath Daisy’s timid exterior was a loving cuddle bug who cherished the moments spent with her humans.
She adored her time with Rayce, but sadly, she did not get along with other dogs or cats. This resulted in several failed adoption attempts, yet Daisy never lost hope.
Joyful Conclusion After Five Months
With high hopes for her future, Daisy encountered one last adoption failure due to her dislike of cats.
However, after five months of dedicated care from her foster father, the moment arrived!
“After five months, Daisy has found her forever home and is being adopted today! Yes, I’m emotional, but so thrilled for this sweet girl,” Rayce shared on Instagram.
Daisy found the perfect family and was excited to start a new chapter in her life.
Before their heartfelt farewell, Rayce ensured Daisy received one last basket filled with delicious treats. They played fetch together one last time before heading to the AARF facility to meet her new dad.
It was a bittersweet moment for both, but knowing that Daisy would finally have a loving forever home made it worthwhile. Her foster dad felt deeply grateful for that!
Daisy, now named Devereaux, integrated seamlessly into her new family.
Once a forsaken dog with a bleak future, she is now joyfully loved by many. Most importantly, she will never have to worry about being alone again!
